And what do you use your elbows for? C/C?
Missouri Synod Minister
There is a smell to this church
of stale air, windowless breeze
and candle flame.
Is this what Heaven smells like?
I could only imagine, listening
to the sermon dragging along;
preached by a bald headed minister
with his family neatly aligned
in the forward pew, beaming.
Another Sunday of salvation
I nod off; much too early for a child.
But then the elbow reminds me--
punishment arrives at any hour.
I was Catholisized...an elbow would have been a break
it was the hammer that bothered me
WAKE UP BOY

The Sermon $8.8 An introductory-level textbook from one of the best-known preachers in the country, The Sermon: Dancing the Edge of Mystery offers preachers a well-shaped, imaginative, and delightfully spry overview of the sermon. The student learns of the revolution in homiletics of the past 25 years and is helped to understand the sermon in terms of the movement of time, place, shape, space, conflict, complication, and the "sudden shift" of the text. For students new to preaching, these dynamic movements are summed up in a ten-step process that moves speaker from preparation to presentation. |

Candle $81.25 A candle is a source of light, and sometimes a source of heat, consisting of a solid block of fuel (commonly wax) and an embedded wick. Today, most candles are made from paraffin. Candles can also be made from beeswax, soy and other plant waxes, and tallow (a byproduct of beeffat rendering). Gel candles are made from a mixture of paraffin and plastic. A candle manufacturer is traditionally known as a chandler. Various devices have been invented to hold candles, from simple tabletop candle holders, to elaborate chandeliers. The heat of the match used to light the candle melts and vaporizes a small amount of fuel. Once vaporized, the fuel combines with oxygen in the atmosphere to form a flame. This flame provides sufficient heat to keep the candle burning via a selfsustaining chain of events: the heat of the flame melts the top of the mass of solid fuel, the liquefied fuel then moves upward through the wick via capillary action, and the liquefied fuel is then vaporized to burn within the candles flame.
