How should I decorate my dining room table?

I need ideas for a centerpiece for my dining room table. Something fun but elegant as well.. maybe something with candles or flowers
I'm also adding a long shelf to go on the blank white wall.. I have picture frames but dont know what else to add

the placemats are kind of wrinkled I still need to iron them

I would recommend shopping around at Home Goods, World Market or Z Gallerie has nice house stuff. You can put a bowl of decorative balls (Target & Walmart carry them) for the middle of the table. Or you put a floral arrangement in the center table, something like:

I think it would make a huge difference if you got rid of the ceiling fan and put a chandelier or nice light fixture up, it would make it more elegant looking.
